Stephanie Tyrna was on the original Alumni trip that pioneered our current ministry in Haiti. Shortly after that trip, with a heart that continued to break for the Haitians, she returned to Haiti. She has been serving for almost two months in every kind of capacity. The money you have given has gone to many different areas – Steph highlights one here…
We were able to provide food for an entire tent community today! We were able to purchase rice, beans, chicken and juice (the typical Haitian meal) for 2,000 people. And this is not just any community. This is a community that Pastor Jean-Claude has his hands in. Most of the people here are people that go to his church. This community is a community that I now consider my family.
We were able to live with Pastor Jean-Claude this week and come together in community and worship with the Haitians. It has been a phenomenal week. I am honored to be a part of their culture and to be a part of the things God is doing here. The hearts of these people are incredible. The joy of the Lord is contagious.
Here are some pictures of us helping the women prepare this meal.
Hours and hours of work goes into this. It was such a joy to be able to come alongside these amazingly hard working women and learn how they prepare meals like this. They are so dedicated and such amazing women. I had many laughs with them as I attempted to speak the little Creole that I knew while trying to learn more. One of the ladies, Sister Bigore, reminds me a lot of a mother figure while Flavi is the sweetest Grandma ever. I hung out with them most of the day and we just laughed the day away. Such pure joy!.
The video is a bit rudimentary, but it gives you a bigger view into the tent community and cooking for 2,000 people.
