The Blogging Team’s Week in Haiti in Review

On Friday, February 12, after flying into the Dominican Republic the previous day, the Youth Advance Team drove across the mountains to Haiti. Upon arrival, they brought hot chocolate to families and victims at a hospital in Jimani, where they developed relationships and listened to people’s stories.  One man, Francois, from Port-au-Prince told the team his unforgettable story: When the earthquake occurred, he and his wife, Elina, who was nine-months pregnant at the time, were in their home in a five-story building. The entire structure collapsed on top of them, but...

Hope Continues to Arise from the Ashes of Haiti

Haiti’s three days of national prayer ended yesterday. We were able to cover the final two days of prayer, because the blogging team arrived in Haiti after the first day. Now, they share the results of the three days the country spent fasting and praying.   The hope that is arising in Haiti is staggering. Seth Barnes and Tim Schmoyer share some of what they have experienced with the nationals, and Anne Jackson shares another video of Haitians rejoicing for Jesus. Seth: So many things have been crushed in Haiti: people, homes, and government...

Final Day of Ministry for Youth Ministry Advance Team

Yesterday wrapped up the final day of ministry for the Blogging Team in Haiti. Adam McLane and Anne Jackson share some of their closing thoughts on what the Lord has done this past week in Haiti.  Adam: I was a little apprehensive about diving into a crowd with several hundred strangers – dancing, sweaty, loud Haitians. At first, I smiled big and tapped my toes. (trust me, I don’t have those moves)  I kept a journalistic distance both physically and emotionally. That’s when I saw a matching smile and sweat on Ian, our video guy had made...

From Haiti: Please Help Us!

The Youth Ministry Advance Team: Haiti is still on the ground, telling stories, ministering to those in need, and seeing how God is moving through the Haitian church. And they are calling you to join them. All in all, the group has been surprised, even amazed, at how God is bringing life and hope into a situation that should be full of death and despair. Here are a few highlights from the team, but you can read all of the blogs here.   AIM staffer Clint Bokelman has been posting regular video blogs throughout the day from Haiti, which you can watch here. The most recent post was a...

Recap of Second Day of Haiti’s Three Days of National Prayer

Seth Barnes and Jeremy Zach share about the second day of national prayer in Haiti and a ministry story from the day. Also included are two videos: one in which Lars Rood shares how the Lord is moving in Haiti and America as a result of the three days of national prayer that many churches and believers are observing. The second is a video of the people dancing for Jesus in the streets of Haiti. Seth: We didn’t expect this. We expected the devastation, the crumbled buildings, the tent cities. But we didn’t expect the hope. Everywhere we went this...

National Day of Prayer Declared in Haiti

The National Haitian Church declared three days of prayer and fasting throughout Haiti.  Rhett, Lars and Anne share a bit of what they have encountered as a result of these outpour of prayers.  And Clint Bokelman includes a video of one of the gatherings (one of many occurring across the country) they witnessed. Rhett: I stood on top of one house, watching a group of about ten-thousand Haitians worshipping anywhere they could in close proximity to the church. I almost expected some people to lower a friend through the roof of the church so...
