Haiti Update: Team Two Continues to Help in the DR and Haiti

Team two spent part of yesterday in Haiti; they scouted it out a few days ago and crossed the border with military escorts yesterday.   While there they sorted through a storage room full of supplies making seven piles of supplies, one for each of the five pastors and two for the church that they are working with.  They continue to help hand out food. They handed out 20 gallons of soup and ran out while people were still waiting to eat. The team has also started building relationships with the people and listening to their stories of looking for relatives or simply sitting...

Haiti Update: Team One Departs Jimani

Hey all, just wanted to let you know that our team (Sam Borg, Marcia Borg, and I) – Mitch departed early with a different team to fly home – left Jimani this morning after dropping off a load of supplies from a very full jeep.  We bought in groups of seven: seven propane tanks, seven stove tops, seven sets of food and clothes, and other things for seven pastors who have heard the same word from God that Miguel has heard.   We believe that the Lord is raising up pastors who will become fathers to the people of Haiti.  We poured all we had into this vision, we...

Heartbroken for Haiti: Stories from the Field

Yesterday morning, Marcia Borg reported from near the Hatian border:   I am heartbroken for the Haitians. We have talked and prayed with many. Last night spent time in the hospital. Most people have had something amputated. It is a pitiful sight. Difficult to share with them, because they mostly speak Creole and French. Every age group, both genders, just fill the place up with casts and stumps, dressings and pain.   They look lost and devastated.   They are homeless and still don’t know where their family members are. There are many children here on the street...

Haiti Update: Meeting the Needs of the Haitian Refugees

We rolled into Jimani, the second biggest focus point besides Port Au Prince, yesterday afternoon with expectations of finding hundreds upon hundreds on the streets. We were prepared for what we saw on tv and youtube to be in our face, enter ¨expectations change¨. There are people in the streets, maybe 70 to 120, all of them trying to get a ride to the Dominican capital where they believe more hope lies than in Haiti. Most of the hospital patients are in post opt care. Last night Miguel and I walked through the hospital, there is need for love there. Lots of people with casts and one...

Arrival of Teams in Haiti

Earlier today, we received an update from one of our Haiti teams, delivering medical supplies. They are on the border town of Jimani and are considering visiting a town that has grown from 3000 to 20,000 people due to the large influx of Haitian refugees from Port-au-Prince.   We also just received word from the other team, which just arrived in the Dominican Republic. They are safe and sound and being take care of by our local contact. Tomorrow, they will be traveling to the border. Team leader Ashley Musick says, “We are really good so far and have already seen the favor of the...
